The more you get to know Austen Acevedo, the more you see that his dancing is Simply a physical expression of his life. Born and raised in Orlando, Austen’s family heritage stretches across the globe. The Puerto Rican and Irish blood that runs through his veins has exposed him to so many cultural differences that one can only describe his dance style and charisma.  This young man’s success is a true testament to his work ethic, which in part comes from his parent’s past dedication to their loves of dance and football.  Austen’s mother danced for over twenty years and his father was a collegiate football player.     Austen, now at age 14, is a dance phenomenon and has a huge International following.   Austen trains 40 to 50 hours a week, he has a strong competitive nature and an electric personality to match.

Bio

 

Austen Acevedo, age 14, was born in Orlando , FL.   He began his dance training at age 9 with Sheri Metcalf, Audrianna Broad and the late great Deborah Barnes.  At age 10 Austen started ballet training at the Orlando Ballet under the Direction of Dierdre Miles Burger, Natasha Glos, Olivier Munoz and Kim Marsh . At age 11, Austen was awarded the “Hope” Award at the YAGP 2011 Tampa Regional and the Bronze Medal at the NYC YAGP International Finals. In addition he also won The American Dance Competition ADC Grand Prize.  2012 YAGP Tampa Regionals.  Austen placed second in the junior division in both Classical and Contemporary and finishing Top 12 at the NYC International Finals. In 2013 he won placed first in both Classical and Contemporary YAGP Regional in Tampa 2013 and finished Top 6 at the NYC International Finals.  Austen was also a semifinalist in Paula Abdul’s Live to Dance on CBS, Orlando Ballet’s productions of Vampire’s Ball, Nutcracker, A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream, Tribute (Orlando Ballet’s 40th Year Anniversary) and Carmen choreographed by Artistic Director Robert Hill.    In addition, Austen has been a featured performer in multiple commercials and productions across the United States.
